has anyone had any problems with the acoustic pro theater thx 7.1 system if so what and how to resolve them?

Can I hook up a Onkyo Receiver to a bose acoustimass system without purchasing an entirely new theater system?

I have a bose acoustic mass system with 5 double cones and a subwoofer. I have researched the Onkyo 605 and 705 and like the reviews. Can I hook either of these receivers to my current bose system? Should I buy an entirely new system? All suggestions welcomed! Help!


A: The speaker wires from an Acoustimass system will connect to any standard receiver ... so yes you can use an Onkyo.

That said, I'd consider selling the acoustimass and using the money to by a new speaker system. In general Bose make high priced, mediocre sounding speakers (they have a very poor midrange). There are many better speaker systems for less money. If you are serious enough about sound to trade up to the Onkyo now is the time to trade up to REAL speakers.

Hi! I just bought a 5.1 home theater system for my house and i would like to know if i had chosen a good system? Here r the details:
My room size is 30'L x 20'W x 8'H. I've done all the necessary acoustic paneling like Armstrong ceiling, carpeted and wooden floor and paneling for the walls too. The system i opted for is the following:
Pioneer VSX-LX60 7.1 A/V Reciever
Paradigm Studio 100V.3 Reference Studio Tower Speakers

I have a cheap Sony HTS, 5.1, incuded 5 shelf speakers and subwoofer for $199 three years ago. I think the receiver is 100 Watt.

It worked great for my 2 bedroom apartment, but I've recently upgraded to a large home prewired for surround sound. I've purchased four 90 watt 5.5" Boston Acoustic in-ceiling speakers and a Polk CS1 Center speaker upto 125 watts.

A: Wattage isn't as important as people make it out to be. The wattage mentioned for the new spkrs I assume is the max rating, the wattage handle before the spkr is damaged. You need to look more at the min sensitivity rating of the spkr(s). How many decibels(dB) required for the spkr perform at its optimal sound. Then compare to your rcvrs specs. The rcvr is rated at 100 watts, is this the combined wattage of all channels or per channel? Regardless, that rating is with constant source...
