I have a Pyramid 450w amp, a Pyramid crossover unit, Alpine headunit, and a 1200w 600rms Boss subwoofer. At low volumes it sounds real good and hits. But when i try to turn up the subwoofer setting or just volume on my headunit, it starts soundin bad and makin a poppin, crackling sound when it suppose to hit but sounds ok when just holding out a note. I know its not blown though. So what could be the problem?

A: It is probably NOT the sub cone but the enclosure -- at least that's how it sounds. Could be as simple as a screw not tightened all the way, or a small crack in the frame. Just go with the less expensive way first and check the cheap stuff like that before you get too worried about the electronics, especially if sustained low dynamics are clean and distortion-free...

my boss subwoofer only has a bare wire so how can i attach it to a normal headphone outlet?... do i need an adapter??or something else

A: A subwoofer needs an amplifier behind it to produce sound. A headphone jack has just enough power for the small speakers found in headphones. If you had an amplifier you could connect it to the headphone jack and then connect the amplifier output to the subwoofer.

The stats state that it is 1/2ohm stable in stereo operation.
You can get the dual 2ohm model L7's and wire both coils of one sub in parallel (both +'s to amp +, both -'s to amp -) to one side of the amp, the same for the other sub -to the other channel of course- for a 1ohm stereo load. This will give each sub about 1800watts RMS.

This amp can actually power 4 L7's just fine.
