Q: Hey everybody. Im a new car owner that knows nothing about buying an enhanced car stereo. Any suggestions or tried-and-true rules about where to go and how to go about it? Preciate it

A: i prefer aftermarket everything, but i've never owned a new car so i can't attest to the quality of their stereo's.

local car audio retailers or places like circuit city or best buy are the best places to get installation of equipment

The factory stuff is of good, durable quality. Usually just a sub woofer with a small amp makes it really good without spending a ton & it helps keep the car's value.

How do i know if a car stereo will be compatible with my cd changer?

I have a stereo system in my car by pioneer. It has integrated tape, FM/AM, and 12 disc cd changer in the back. I would like to change the stereo without changing the 12 cd changer in the back. How would i be able to know which car stereo models are compatible with my 12 cd changer in the back? Is there anything else i should know about the matter?


A: The new radio has to have the same type of changer control. for example if you have you have a " P BUS" CD changer "you will know if your changer is "P BUS" if it has a "P" in the model number. For example: cdx-P1280 is a "P BUS" changer and will only work with "P BUS" head units, you will know these head units because they also have a "P" in the model number for example: deh-P3000ib

Alpine CDA-117RI

I have to junk my car that has a really nice stereo system. I plan on building an enclosure for the speakers and stereo but was wondering how to get power to the stereo system using a household outlet. Any idea's are welcome and thanks ahead of time.
I'm only trying to power the head unit, 2 4-way speakers that are about 4x6 and 2 4in speakers.
