How does an equalizer for music work?

Q: I know that it can change the quality of the music but how does it change it exactly? I have an equalizer on my computer.

haha. ive been trying to find the best equalizer performance but i couldnt find it. anyone has the best settings for xpressmusic phones?

I use a fender rumble 60 amp. I was wondering what were the best equalizer settings for a nice warm bass tone (less rumble, but not too much treble) on my Fender Standard Jazz Bass. Thanks =)


A: On the guitar itself: use the bridge pickup with the tone knob at 10.

On the amp: set your bass to around 6/7, your mids about half or less (I like 4) and your treb around 8.

Cutting your mids will take out the rumble for the most part, but will darkin your sound, so boost up the treb to help.

By the way, hi trebs will give you better harmonic depth in your playing, and because you play bass, you can't get them too hi.

I am connecting an equalizer in my car where do i connect the red wire to constant 12 volt or ignition 12 volt? Does it matter?
It does have a remote wire/ turn on wire, so connect it directly to 12 volt?


A: EDIT, no the turn on wire is to power up the unit when you turn on your car stereo, it is like a turn on button, it sends a few volts to the unit to wake it up.
You have to pull out your deck and on the cluster of wires look for that blu/wht wire and connect with a crimp connector of some kind there is a similar wire that lifts up the power antenna on some units make sure u have the right one.

you need 18 or 20 gauge wire if u hook it up to 12v. constant it will never...
