Kick-Panel Enclosures
Q:
A: At least 5/8" MDF particle board, a lot of patience, and creativity poly-filling and a dremmel saw and router-bit.
I am adding a pair of Infinity Kappa 62.7i 6.5 inch speakers to a 1970 Pontiac GTO. they will be running with infinity 6x9's off a pioneer 6300f amp. Older cars did not typically come with 4 speakers so i am buying an aftermarket kick panel with an opening cut for the 6.5. I've read the kappa's produce good bass with enough power but i'm worried there wont be enough air space inside the kick panel to take advantage of the speakers. any suggestions?

1/4" hardboard and fiberglass. May also need some bondo to fill in some of the finer gaps. Sand it down, apply a second coat and sand that. Finish off with either carpet or paint (depending on your style). Be prepared to spend a lot of time and plenty of patience doing this. I would recommend practicing on something else before diving right in and making your own kick panels.
