Does the 12 inch L5 Kicker need tweeters?

Q: I have a 12" L5 Kicker sub woofer with a kx600.1 Kicker amp waiting to be installed in my car. I'm putting it in a vented box. Does the subwoofer need tweeters? Or should I just buy an amp for my Sony Xplod door speakers that I think has tweeters already installed inside of the speakers? And if I need tweeters, which Kicker tweeters should I get?

A: The only speakers that need tweeters are meant for sound and not bass. Usually smaller than 5.25" speakers have no tweeter unless they cost more with a built in tweeter. It's the little ball or object in the middle of the speaker. No subwoofer will ever need a tweeter, because they are meant strictly for bass. Sub level speakers that range from 8-22" won't need tweeters because they process sub level sound, or bass if you will. No reason for crisper sound, the amp does the job from there.

A subwoofer never needs tweeters. Ever.

A subwoofer is designed to handle only the low frequencies and give that booming rumbling effect. A tweeter only handles high frequencies and is used in 3-way speakers and component speaker sets to give you the full range of frequencies.

A: Wow. You cant run tweeters off a mono amp. You CAN however use a 2 channel or a 4 channel. People think you cant use an amp with tweeters, but you can. It cleans up the sound and gives it cleaner power causing them NOT to blow as frequently.
I am a fan though of using a component set of speakers instead of just adding on a set of tweeters.

what amp should i get to run my Kicker 05KS25 tweeters Thanks?

im going with 3 kicker L7s in my G6 sadan & what type of amps do i need?

Im bout to buy 3 Kicker L7s and 2 6x9 kickers for speakers and 4 tweeters in kickers and what ever the G6 doors takes in kickers inside so i need to know what type of amps do i need to run threw the speakers inside the car and the amps to power the L7 subs and also what type of box do i need


A: my g/f has a G6 and the trunk is smaller than the one on my 04 Monte SC/SS and i barely got two L5 12s in there so i don't see anyway possible to fit them in there unless you have a custom box and you will have no extra trunk space at all
i know the 15s wont fit so i will assume you are referring to 10s or 12s, and i would recommend ported/slotted boxes as opposed to sealed because they hit a lot harder, and since they are in the trunk you don't care about sq because you wont...
