Q: I bought a Pioneer Premier 3000w peak, 1000w RMS, dual coil subwoofer. What amp would work best for this sub?

dual 2 ohm dual 4 ohm?????? if its dual 4 ohm get a 1000xd (1000rms at 2 ohm) if its dual 2 ohm get a RFL1200d (does 1200rms at 1 ohm)

Im guessing the D4 means its a dual 4 ohm woofer. if thats the case, then you need a mono amp that puts out 1000 watts at 2 ohms. and hifonics would be a good brand to look into if you wanted a cheap 1000 watt amp.

i just bought my subwoofer and im wondering if this head unit will be able to have a subwoofer installed.

A: As soon as you run a sub...you need an amplifier. Average head units push about 25-55 watts. Average subs start out at 150-300 wats rms. Odds are, you will under power the sub and damage the voice coils if you attempt to run it without an amp..not to mention it will sound like poop. Find out what the RMS power range for the sub is....pick up an amp from sonicelectronix.com...or hifisoundconnection.com that is right around the RMS (not PEAK) of the sub...and you will be a happy...

Will a 240 watts metra autoworks 2 channel amplifier work with my 400 watts pioneer subwoofer?

A: First things first. You should be using a monoblock amp for the sub, since that mono blocks were made specifically for subs, and will give you the best sound from your sub as well. A 2 channel will work though, will not sound the best though. What you have will be fine, just not sending it 400 watts is all. So the sub will have a longer life and the amp will not since it will be working at it's peak just to give you the 240 watts.
