what is the rms on my pyle pl1290bl speakers?

Q: I just bought a pair of pyle 12 inch subs they are 1200 watts peak but it doesn't say anywhere on the box or the speakers what the rms is .I looked online but no luck finding the info so far.

A: they don't have any RMS info on them because (being honest) they are cheap/ mediocre at best speakers they don't put that info out there because most people that would look into buying them wont know a thing about RMS wattage and see 1200watts and swear that they had some nice subs
so to be safe i would not send them any more than about 300-400watts RMS (with a cheap amp, a CEA-compliant amp would fry them quickly)

Pyle speakers to amplifier?

I was wondering which amplifier I should get with the Pyle Pro PADH212's. I think they are 800 watts (RMS) and 8 ohms. I don't want to risk running the amplifier to hard or blow the speakers (of course). Thanks for your help, I am not quite savvy with speakers yet!


A: The spec that says they are capable of 800 watts RMS does not in any way mean you have to have 800 watts to drive them.

I have had professional speakers that would drive you out of the house at 5 watt RMS per channel, and 2 watts was a good loud listening level.

For large speakers with 10, 12, 15 inch woofers, 20 watts per channel is sufficient in a home system, I have sold many, many systems like that. I have done dances in a basketball gym peaking at 50 watts...

Is a 500 watt Alpine car speaker better than a 1000 watt Pyle speaker?

I have read that on this site that Pyle speakers aren't so good. But I am wondering if a different brand like Alpine or Kenwood with lower watts will sound louder and better?
Peak power for both speakers. I don't have an amp or sub either, just an sony head unit and I want upgraded speakers.

A: Sorry to tell you but Pyle is a garbage brand
They're extremely unreliable and highly over rated in terms of power so i say sell all your pyle stuff and get kicker/alpine/ or JL Audio
