OK so 2 months ago I think I made a huge mistake. I wanted to have a nice system for my car, and found myself at a car audio shop asking questions. The people said MTX makes very good subs and they'd be a better choice than alpine. They also said Memphis makes very good amps, and that the subzone box would give me the best base.

A: Actually, no one "has" to work out anything with you. Another thing, "breaking in" subs is bogus. If the shop that you purchased your equipment from values you as a customer then they will work something out with you so long as the damage to the sub doesn't look like it was intentional. They should have given you something stating there warranty policy when you purchased your stuff. If they didn't then, they can just tell you to take your stuff elsewhere and them...

can anyone tell me the dimensions of a subzone
ported subwoofer box? the ones with the L-shaped port? or just the demensiond of the port?

A: The size of the port is dependent on the tuning frequency you want to tune the port to.

The equation for the tuning frequency is based on the equation
Fb = .159 sqrt([A * (1.84*10^8)] / [V * (L + .823*sqrt(A))])
where A = cross sectional area, V = internal volume, and L = length of port.

The port will only be in an L-shape if it is to long to fit in the enclosure without turning.

for kicker subs, would i be better off gettin a subzone brand box or a kicker sub?? ive heard a kicker cvr in a subzone box and it sounds awesome compared to most boxes.. so i was wondering what would most likely to be better..

A: if you heard subzone and liked it, then go with it.... there is no right or wrong as long as they are sized within spec. i've read about alot of people who do custom builds and almost inevidabily the say "if i could do it again i would..." so if you heard um and like um... go with a sure thing.....
