Q: I just got WinTV TV tuner and when I do a scan for channels, it does not pick up any channels.
I have tried it with my DirectTV cable installed to the tuner card, from the reciever to the tuner card, and without the DirectTV and I get no channels.

Is there something wrong with the card? Or should I uninstall and reinstall the software???

Have you had this problem before?

A: Plug the output of the Direct TV Box to the TV Tuner and set the channel accordingly on the TV Tuner on the computer. You will need to control the Direct TV Box with it's remote control, or use the Software that came with WinTV to program the Hauppauge control to be able to control the Direct TV box also.

What TV Tuner should I get for my computer?

I would like a good quality TV Tuner that connects to my computer so I can use my computer as if it were a cable TV.
I have an eMachines T3506 computer running Windows XP Home Edition.
I would really like the TV Tuner to have a remote control so I can watch from across the room. I'm looking for something below $100.

A: any name-brand hdtv tuner.

The best brands are hauppauge and dvico

You can *easily* get a decent usb tuner for half that price, or a pci card if you prefer internal.

Really depends on what software you're using too. If using Linux, its very fussy about models.

If using mediaportal or gb-pvr, there are many supported cards, but u should check first.

If using MCE, you can use pretty much any tuner.

My friend's laptop tv tuner and small antenna receives digital tv in my home, but when I bought a digital TV it didn't receive anything so I returned it. Apparently some digital tv tuners are better/stronger than others but how can you know?
