A: Dont buy a kit, period. Most places you can find turntables and a mixer of better quality for cheaper sold seperatly.

DJ Kit For a Beginner :D?

Written by Phil L | Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Hey there. I am new to DJ'in and i was wondering what is a good way to start off. i have had a good search around the internet and i am fimiliar with the terms and what everything means and does but that still doesnt solve my problem of which way i should go. what i mean is wether to buy Vinyl decks, CDJ, or the USB Vinyl decks. Now im looking to become quite good at DJ'in and was hoping to do it at a few house partys when i get good at it and then see how i do afer that.

A: Okay, it really depends on how much money you want to invest, and who you want to make happy with that amount of money. If you're mainly looking to have fun with scratch etc, then i'd say get turntables. Vinyl is costly, but it's the most rewarding. Turntables, you can get moderately cheap at a guitar center or online. You can get a decent turntable for $150-$200 each. But, you'll still need a mixer, which will be around $100 for the basic model.

I really wanna start DJ'ing and I don't have a really big budget. I was looking around for a cheap kit, and I found this one. The reviews seem to be positive (I've checked other sites too). Is it a good kit?

Also if anyone could tell me a good way to learn to DJ that would be nice too, but not necessary :)

A: CD-J's like that are ok for mixing, but im into the old school scratching and mixing type stuff. If your looking for something cheap go with vinyl , good cd dj equipment which you can scratch with can be expensive

blending one song into another is NOT DJ'ing, you have to make it an original mix

Is this a complete beginners DJ'ing kit?

I want to start and this is what I have lined up to practice at home:

-1 or 2 Vinyl Turntables
-1 Mixer
-Sound System/Amp

Will that do? What else might be needed?

good answer I have a few questions >.<

A: hey thats a standard system.....although thats a way of traditional djing and u have to buy vinyls for them and spend a lot off money on limited titles so ...... i suppose u could get :

1-pc or laptop
2-programs like virtual dj
3-virtual vinyls
4-a standard asio sound card

so with that u can be tradigital dj and no need to buy more vinyls just good ol mp3s . and kikachika dude scratch up ,loop up,and do whatever u want.

if u...
