Cables and Cords
Q: I'm buying a Samsung LCD HDTV online (my 1st HDTV), and I'm wondering what cables, cords, or other accessories I'll need to install it so I can buy them ahead of time. I currently have digital cable through a little box attached to my standard CRT TV. I have a standard DVD player, too. Will I need a new cable box or anything special for cable? Thanks in advance for all the help!
A: HD connections are either Component (those 5 cords, similar to composite[red/yellow/white]), or HDMI. Component is an analog signal, so the cable needs to be shielded and stuff. However, with an LCD, you're better off going with an HDMI cable. Go online to www.monoprice.com and snag one for like $10. If you're doing a cable run <12ft, the monoprice cables will be more than enough. Monster cables will cost over $100 for the same length.

Our 2 month old kitten loves to chew on the power cords and cables. We have tried a water sprayer to deter her, but she does it when we are not home. Is there any thing we can spray on them to deter her?
Can I plug the thing that merges the red and white cables into one jack somewhere on my computer to make them play through the speakers, or do I have to plug them directly into speakers? Because the speakers I have now only have a plug for the power. :( And the VGA set does come with that merger right?
Also, does the official Microsoft VGA cable include the merger thing?
