Which film cameras have used Carl Zeiss and Leica lens?

Q: I've been very pleased with my Sony and Panasonic digicams that use Carl Zeiss and Leica lens, but I was wondering if I can get a film camera, a SLR or a compact one, with these lens brands on it? Of course I've used Nikons and Canon with their property lens, but I'd like to clear this doubt...

Well, you've got two major options.

Contax is a Zeiss brand that was licensed to Kyocera, and Kyocera made quite a few excellent cameras that use Zeiss lenses. Zeiss also used the Contax brand long before it licensed it to Kyocera, and there are many old Zeiss cameras from then.

Zeiss also makes lenses for the famous Hasselblad and Rollei medium format cameras. Those are very expensive and require a lot of experience to use though.

What's a good digital camera with a good lens (maybe leica) for around $100?

I've always been and always will be film camera (leica) photographer, but I'd like a decent cheap digital camera for non-art purposes. are the lumix cameras with the leica lenses good? are they comparable in some way to leica film lenses? what are some good cameras in the 100-150 range? is there somewhere i can go to see examples of image taken with various cameras on the web?

A: If you are used to Leica film cameras, then you're going to be VERY disappointed with any cheap digital camera. They don't come anywhere near the quality of a Leica 35mm camera (or any good quality film camera, for that matter). You would be taking a major step backward.

Cheap digital cameras (such as point and shoot digital cameras) are about the same level quality as what 110 film cameras were like.

You can get a decent digital camera for snapshots...

I have a digial camera - Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ6. I thought that all Panasonic Lumix cameras have Leica lenses. But this says its a "LUMIX DC VARIO" lens. The other similar models say they have a "Leica DC VARIO" lens.

Also it doesn't say "Leica" on the front of the lens body like the other Lumix cameras.

The Panasonic website and manual aren't much help either.

Im wanting to sell a Leica M7 silver with a Summicron-M f2 35mm lens. Box and papers are all included. Bought new it cost me about ВЈ3200+. I was thinking maybe ВЈ2200 as I know that Leica cameras hold their value well compared to other makes. Any ideas??
