Where can I find a macro lens for a Pentax Spotmatic from 1963?

Q: I'm a beginning photographer and I have my father's old Pentax Spotmatic. I have a wide angle but really want a macro for close ups. Anyone know where I could find one that would fit this old camera? Are the pentax lenses for newer cameras interchangeable?

A: Narrow your search to "screw mount" Pentax lenses. That's the only thing that'll work on the Spotmatics.

No, the newer "K mount" Pentax lenses won't fit.

Im trying to figure out if my old pentax lenses would be compatible with a new pentax SLR (i'd probably get the k100d). the lenses are pretty old and the aperture is set on the lens. i could figure out if it is compatible if i knew the mount type (ex. k-mount, s-mount, kaf2-mount, 67/645).
ok, i just found out that it has a "K-Bayonet mount" does anyone know if it will work on the k100d then?


A: One of the big advantages of Pentax cameras is that they are compatible with the lineup of lenses going back to the old K-mount. The short answer is yes, your K-mount lens will work on the new digital SLR, but of course, it won't autofocus.

And is Tamron or Pentax the brand? There's nothing wrong with the lens I just didn't look close enough when I bought it for my husband I thought I was buying a lens for a canon. Shows how well I read!


A: The value depends on the specific lens, but with third party lenses (Tamron, Tokina, Sigma, etc.) you can expect the value to be as little as 50% of the retail price. Check if keh.com, Craig's list, or eBay list used copies of your lens for an accurate price indication.

I've got a Pentax 35mm with an awesome lens. But I just bought a Canon Digital Rebel, so it makes my 35mm rather obsolete. However, I'd hate to give up the lens if I can buy some sort of adapter to fit it onto the Canon. Can't find anything online, do they make stuff like that??
