Q: Explain the differences between SAR,delta sigma and flash converter?
Can anyone give me a diagram to help to explain it.thanks..

A: The SAR - successive approximation register - is an ADC that uses a binary search technique to make increasingly-accurate guesses at a value. It is basically a DAC with a comparator. The SAR takes many cycles to resolve a value, but is very accurate. Widely used in instrumentation.

The delta-sigma ADC uses an integrator, comparator and a 1-bit DAC to create a pulse-code modulated stream, the density of which is proportional to the input. This is a medium-speed, medium-to-high...

Can the broken plastic foot of a Sigma flash be replaced?

Written by Perki88 | Sunday, May 17, 2009

If so, is it costly? I recall there used to be metal foot replacements for the Vivitar 283's...are metal feet available for this?

A: Wein produces replacement flash foots (feet?) for independent flash makers. They may have something available.

Call Sigma directly, replacement parts are available. A foot is $30 to $70 depending on the model.

Keep in mind that you want a plastic flash foot that is somewhat fragile. It is better to break the flash than bend/crack your pentaprism housing.

Is Sigma Super Flash 500 compatible with Olympus cameras?

Written by cupids_dolls | Friday, June 13, 2008

My friend has an Olympus e410 and she wants a flash for her camera. Someone told her to get a Sigma Super Flash, but we can't find anywhere that tells if they will fit the Olympus camera. If they won't fit the camera, what is a comparable flash that will fit the Olympus e410?

A: The Olympus FL-36 (~$160), Olympus FL-50 (~$370), Metz 44 AF-4 O, Metz 58 MZ-4i O, Metz 28 AF-3, and the Olympus FL-20 are all TTL flashes that work with the E-410.

You could use just about any flash on it but it'll be crippled to manual operation only. This means you might have to do some experimenting to get the desired results. Also, keep in mind that older flashes may have trigger voltages greater than 6V. Using such a flash runs the risk of frying the camera. There are...

Will Sony Alpha A350 work with my old Sigma EF-430MA Flash?

Written by Target | Saturday, May 31, 2008

I am thinking of upgrading from a SLR to a DSLR. I currently have a Minolta 505si Super and is wondering if I upgrade it to a Sony Alpha A350, would my Sigma EF-430 MA flash gun still work?

A: Maybe.

First you will have to find out what the trigger voltage is. If it is over 12v, it may fry the electronics in your camera.

If it is safe to use it, then you will be shooting in the manual flash mode and will probably have to calculate each shot, since the TTL function will probably not work with your new advanced Sony DSLR

The best external flash units are the dedicated ones designed to interface with your camera. The camera and flash are...
