Sigma lens?

Q: Im planning on buying a lens for my Nikon D40 and I saw this lens-Sigma 70-300 APO F4-5.6 DG MACRO SUPER 2-and im wondering...Is it any good?

A: Sigma is at the bottom of the heap when it comes to third-party lenses. If you really want to buy one, look at the Tokina line of lenses ... they are the makers of Hoya filters and some of the Pentax lenses.

In reality, you may be better off buying a used Nikon lens.

The lens is ok but the f stop range would limit it in low light levels requiring longer exposures and tripod use. Nikon does make some excellent lenses with very small f stop around 1.2 however they cost about as much as a sports car!
The zoom function and macro capabilities do however make for a versatile lens with portraiture (closeup) and landscape ( wide angle) in one will save you changing lenses often.

Sigma makes some pretty good lenses and some other of their lenses are dogs. This one is not as good as the Nikon equivalent.

In this case, I'd stick with the Nikon.

Is it okay to use Sigma Lens for Canon 450D?

I'm planning to buy Sigma Lenses for my Canon 450D. Because I guess it's much cheaper than Canon lens. Is Sigma compatible with Canon?


A: I put a Sigma on my Canon and the lens dropped an AF gear after 1.5yrs - the warranty was 1yr. They are cheap and they work but they don't last.

Planning to go for Sigma 18-200mm Dc Lens for Nikon auto focus. Can it be used for the Nikon D60.

And how is the Performance of Sigma lenses.

Can anyone recoment a Sigma Lens that would be good to use for candid pictures?

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a Sigma Lens that would be good to use for candid photos.. I would like to be able to use the lens for weddings. I was originally interested in the Canon EF 24~105 F4L IS Lens however the price is a bit too costly for my budget.
