I have a Panasonic FZ50 camera and a Sunpak 522 flash. Is there any way to use this flash with this camera?

Q: Is there any way to use this flash with this camera? TTL would be great. What about Panasonic or Olympus flash 50 or 500 models.

A: You will have to do some research on the Sunpak 522 flash and make sure its trigger voltage is less than 6v. Higher voltages will fry your cameras electronics and that is not covered by warranty.

Sigma has one for the Panasonic digitals.

Olympus has this flash unit for SP series, C7070, E1, E300 & E500 Cameras

You will not be able to do TTL flash. You can use an optical slave unit and block the on camera flash enough just to trigger the slave. The trigger voltage on a Sunpack would fry the circuitry of the camera. If you had the hotshoe attahcment for the flash you might try a Wein Safe-Synch adapter from B&H.

A: Honestly all flash heads would work.

your real problem would be

1. the connections - if they are hot shoes or plugs etc.
2. you cant use the 3D matrix metering
3. you can't use +/- flash compensation

You can use A and Manual

Right after the shot you can decide on how the image looks and adjust from there. To be on the safe side establish your "standard" so that you would be guessing all the time.

I recently received a Yashica A twin lenses reflex camera, all manual. I already have a Sunpak 555 flash.

Question is what shutter speed do I use when using the flash.

From many years ago I seem to recall 1/60th of a second, can somebody tell me if this is correct.


A: Your camera uses a leaf shutter, so any shutter speed will work ... the only cameras that have a fixed "highest" shutter speed are those that use focal-plane shutters.

Can I use a Sunpak 2000 BZ Flash with hot shoe fitting on a digital camera? (like a Olympus 500E)?

A: Yes, most hot shoes are pretty standard, even on newer digital systems. I can say this with certainty regarding Canon systems. The same should be true with other manufacturers.
