I am debating keeping it or returning it. I want to take it with me on my trip to europe, so i need something very small so that i can videotape without giving to much of a scene and something that can fit in my pack.

That said i want something that takes good video. I am not sure if this will or not.

A: well dont know that model but me jvc mini dv can take pics but the put them onto the tape and last 5 seconds if you have a program that can take a pic of the film while playing then you can save them but its jsut an extra stepp so just go buy a cheep digital camera or save and buy a good one

A: The Canon ZR900 is a fine entry level miniDV tape based camcorder. Check the reviews at consumerreports, camcorderinfo and cnet. The ZR900 and ZR930 are least expensive camcorders available with a audio in jack to add an external mic - this is AWESOME. Pretty much all other camcorders from other manufacturers in this same price range do not have a mic jack.
