Pentax digital camera not connecting to Vista computer to upload pictures?

Q: I've been trying to fix my dad's computer and camera problem. He has a Pentax digital camera and when we connect it to his computer with the USB cable nothing happens... usually when a camera is connected it will prompt something to appear on the screen and then you can upload photos from the camera, but in this case nothing happens. I've made sure the camera is ON and in playback mode. The USB cable seems to be OK. Also, tried different USB ports on the computer.

Test the camera and cable in another computer. If it works, its your dad's USB port that's loose.

If it doesn't, try swapping the cable. If it still doesn't try wiggling the cable at the camera's end. It may have a loose connection there.

If all else fails, purchase a cheap card reader from the computer shop and use that to transfer pictures form the memory card to the computer.

Does anyone know anything about a Pentax Digital Camera?

Is it a descent camera or would I be wasting my money on a crappy camera? It is a Pentax E10. I dont know much about digital cameras so I would appreciate any help! Even if it is just an opinon!


A: Comcast Shopping does not rate this camera very highly.

The users seem to really like the Pentac M10, which does not cost too much more than the E10.

I admit that there are only 4 reviews for the M10 and 3 for the E10, but the users had some really nasty things to say about the E10.

I'm thinking about purchasing a Pentax 8.0 mega pentax digital camera model M50. Has anyone tired this camera and how are the results? I have 2 old pentax cameras one is a 35mm and the other a 3.5 pixel digital, and have had great results with both. I worry about the newer one M50 because it comes with a special rechargeable battery instead of the normal AA batteries. Any one have an input? Thanks in advance.
