What is the best point and shoot camera to get?

Q: Im looking for a point and shoot camera for christmas and am not sure what one to get. the only thing is it has to be under 200 dollars. preferably 150-170 range. any ideas?

A: My preference is for Nikon or Canon, but there are many other good cameras out there. If you go to Cnet.com you can search by manufacturer, price, etc. and read professional reviews as well as reviews owners have written. You can search for the best online price and the online merchants are given reliablity ratings, as well. There really is no substitute for seeing the camera, holding it in the store and going through the various functions and menus to see if it fits your needs, is easy and...

What's a good point and shoot camera that you would recommend?

Written by Cristina D | Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I want to upgrade from my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W90 to newer model camera. This camera has been really awesome but I am ready for something new. I really like my Sony, but am open to any suggestions. I have tried Kodak in the past and don't really want another one of those. Can you recommend a good point and shoot that would be an upgrade from what I already have?

A: I suggest the new Olympus point and shoot cameras, not only do they take good photos but I recently upgraded my Sony to the Olympus 1030SW (if I remember the model correctly) and I couldn't be happier. The camera is waterproof, snow, dust and drop proof. Basically it is "me" proof, lol.

I took it to Hawaii and wend swimming with it, took some amazing turtle photos and it takes photos above water just as well. Taking photos on the fly (walking without...

Any point and shoot in the market that shows what settings you just took?

Written by VINTAGE MUSIC | Monday, January 26, 2009

Anyone knows of any point and shoot cameras that show what aperture and shutter speed you just took just by going back to that shot, Before taking photos home and seeing info on computer.
In other words I'd like to see my settings before I get home. If I shoot at F/5.6 and shutter sets itself, 5 min later with different lighting I'd like to see settings on my last shot to adjust settings manually.
Normally you see shots you took on computer, hit properties etc and see...

A: All of the Canon point and shoot cameras will display this information.

During playback, simply push the display button and the information for the shot--shutter speed, aperture, etc.---will be displayed on the screen.

I would think that all name brand cameras can do this; the no-name ones that are automatic only probably don't though.

What is the most proffesional point and shoot camera on the market?

I have been looking at the canon g10. Is there anything better than this? Im wanting a point and shoot camera that will get me ready for a dslr. I will be using the camera for outdoor pictures of people. I know about the iffy iso...im not super critical of photos but I need it to be pretty darned crisp and clear for photo retouching. I like its build and look. Is this a good camera for me or should I try something else?

A: I completely disagree with EE dude about buying the lowest of the low DSLR instead of the G 10.

The G 10 is an outstanding P&S - probably the best one out there.

And it's WAY better in build quality, lens quality and performance than any of the entry level DSLRs with a kit lens.

Just be aware: After you've become accustomed to the quality of the G 10, you'll need to get a pretty darn good DSLR, with some quality glass, just to compete...
