Drum Set?!?!?!?

Q: Ive never had a drum or played the drums from a drum set but ive played the snare drum for 2 years but i want to know wat kind of drum set should i?? get thanks for all the help anyone!!!

A: Alright, some good brands are Yamaha, Mapex, Gretsch (if you like jazz, they have lots of compact jazz setups), and Tama. I would go with a basic rock kit. They are better to learn on, and are the standard drums most people start on. The main difference between fusion and rock is drum sizes. Fusion usually has a smaller bass drum, and smaller/odd size toms. A rock kit is definately the way to go. I have a Yamaha set, and it is a really good, solid set. I love it. get any kind just make sure it has a snare it really dosent make a dif cuz drums are drums as long as its got a snare

If your just a beginner don't be too worried by brands. A fusion kit might be an idea start on, becuase they are more compact and are much more comfortable to play. I normally play on a standard size kit, but when i do get to play on a fusion kit i find my drumming is more accurate. Also if you get a cheap 5 piece kit to start off on, you can always change the skins later to more expensive ones.

I am interested in buying a drum set. I have no experience with drums, but would like a set that is basic. I would eventually like to play more metal type music. The cheaper the better. Thanks!


A: My best advice would be not to spend too much on your first drum kit. If you spend too much on a nice high quality kit, you won't be able to sell it for full retail value if you decide later on that drumming isn't for you (you can never be sure about this until you've played for a while).

My first drum set was a 5-piece Groove Percussion kit. It came with cymbals, a snare drum, a bass drum, two mounted toms, a floor tom, and was about $350. Anything similar to this...

I am wanting to get a drum set. I am a beginner even though I have used drums before. I was wanting to know a good drum set for a beginner that is good and has a good sound but not really expensive like other drum sets.

How do you measure drum sizes for a drum set?

I have a drum set I am planning on selling but I am not sure how to list the sizes. Is it diameter across the face of the drum or the depth of the drum that is the "size"?


A: it is the diameter across the head of the drum, thats how you know what size heads to buy. the depth just means its either deep shell or not.
