i know that both direct and indirect percussion requires the middle finger of the non-dominant hand firmly on the body.. but wat else is the difference? =)

A: Direct percussion is when you're tapping directly onto the body part (like when you tap directly on a clavicle). Indirect, you're tapping on the middle finger of your hand over the body part (eg with your hand over the lungs).

If I'm left-handed and playing percussion in marching band (snare), should I play by leading with my left hand, which is the easiest way for me, or should I just try to learn leading with my right hand?

A: It depends..if you are not the only snare player on the field, then you should try to match everyone's sticking. If you are playing solo, do it however it is comfortable.

I'm looking for a song that people wouldn't really expect to hear played on an acoustic guitar but that you think could sound really good. I'm looking for something creative for a talent show with just a singer and a guitarist plus maybe basic hand percussion depending on the song. Thanks in advance.

So much has already been written about this all-female band that it’s hard to come up with new ways of saying just how good they really are. After their win of the Battle of the Bands at Sawmill Campground in Dade City, FL, Karmic Tattoo continues to gain momentum at each and every show. They’re tight, professional, and fun. First of all, Lisa Noe has a world class voice. It’s that simple… put her on American Idol and she wins. Back that up with the intricate harmonies provided by Pam Green and Amy Black (and occasionally Stephanie Callahan of Halcyon) and you’ve got John, Paul and George and Ringo of that little known ‘60’s band the Beatles!
The combined members of Karmic Tattoo have been rocking the Tampa Bay area for many years. Born in Tampa Bay in 2004 when Texan Pam Green, Kentucky Girl Lisa Noe and Floridian Amy Black combined their separate talents, they are fast claiming a place in the Southeastern Music Scene. Also, they are currently rocking in the studio recording their 2nd CD, soon to be released. I went to see Karmic Tattoo Sunday at On the Rocks in Gulfport, Florida. Wow… what an excellent band! They did a great version of “Love the One You’re With”. I was very impressed with their vocals on this one. Same with “Bitch”, which gave Pam a chance to show off her talent as a lead-guitar player. A fun moment came when Lisa came out into the vast crowd to pull off a wonderful rendition of Janis’s “Mercedes Benz”… everybody helped sing along! Then Stephanie Callahan came on to help with Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”. She fit right in and you’d never know she wasn’t a full-time member of KT. They did one of my favorites of their originals… “Forever One Day Late”. This song belongs on the radio.
