Q: I am thinking about getting a new subwoofer. I found the MTX RTP212 subwoofer for about $200. (Link: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?Source=googlebase&ProductID=19134) Is this a good one, how is the price, and will it be loud. Thanks for any help!

It's really nothing special, but for $250, it's alright. I must warn you, though, that chances are after the 'new' wears off, you will want more. What are your goals with your system? Do you want something loud enough to relocate your colon, or do you just want something to add a decent low-end to your music? If your objective is the latter, this package will be fine. If it is the former, then save up some money and buy yourself a good system.

I recently bought an MTX 15'' thunder 7500 subwoofer and I was wondering how to hook it up to my Panasonic stereo in my room without buying any kind of accesory. I don't want to hook a amp to the sub either.Thanks!

What is a better subwoofer, MTX 9500 or Alpine type X? What other subwoofers would you recommend?

A: I would go with a type X, just because the 9500 never impressed me much.
Another sub you might take a look at is a T1 rockford fosgate, or a boston g5 or SPG.

How will this Hifonics subwoofer compare to my old MTX JH55 subwoofer?

I want to get two Hifonics TXI12D4 subwoofers, i blew both of my MTX JH55 subwoofers. How do you think the Hifonics subwoofers will compare to my old setup? By the way i have a ported box already with a Hifonics Brutus BXi1606D amp. Thanks for your help!!


A: hifonics is trash, its a downgrade

MTX is a CEA-compliant company which means that their amps have been tested and produce or exceed the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion and their speakers can handle the RMS wattage that that are rated for
hifonics really over rates their stuff, you would be lucky to get half of the RMS wattage and it would more than likely be distorted and if you sent their recommend RMS wattage (CEA-compliant) to their speakers they...
