Q: Hello,
I'd like to upload some music on minidiscs to a computer but my player does not have the usb connection. I've looked around but I'm completely clueless tech-wise and don't know what to look for. I'm looking for a minidisc player that either comes with software if needed or doesn't need any.

I'd really appreciate your help if you could recommend something within $50-100.

Thanks a lot all.

A: I seem to remember Sony did make a PC-compatible, full-size home MD machine, but it was very rare because hardly anyone bought it as mp3s had already established themselves. I think some of the Sony Net MD walkmans could be plugged into PCs, though whether it was to transfer from PC to MD, rather than from MD to PC, I can't remember. Have a look here for more info:

You can still take the analogue output from your existing MD...

How can I record from my minidisc player into my computer, and then transfer the content to CD or MP3?

Sony MZ-E620

I have recorded some music and speech on to minidiscs. How can I transfer these recordings on to my computer, and then re-record them on to blank CDs or MP3?
If I could do this I would have a backup of the contents of the minidiscs, in case they got lost or damaged. And I could play them back easily in a portable CD player, or something like that.
Free software would be great, as long as it is reliable.
I presume that I would have to plug one end of a cable into the...

Sharp MD-DS55 Auvi Minidisc Player

I've got an onboard Realtek soundcard on my motherboard. It's got both a Microphone and a Line-In socket. I need to tape from minidisc to hard drive, I'm using Adobe Audition. The minidisc player is connected to the Line-In socket. Adobe Audition is set up to use my sound card as the input - when I press record it seems to start recording, but doesn't detect any sound. If I change the input to my webcam's microphone it will record from that successfully, albeit only on the...

A: Dono alot about adobe, but, check to see that the Line In is not Muted, If no or so, and it still dosent work then Concider pluging in to the Mic Port, THEN if it dosent work MAKE sure your Mic Port is not muted, I cannot get my line IN to work either.

Silverware

can you buy a cable to do this if so where from?

A: Yes. You would need a cable with a 3.5mm jack on both ends(earphone plug) then plug one end into your minidisc earphone socket and the other into your PC sound card 'line in' port.
you can buy these from most electrical shops, Maplins being one.
