Will my ONKYO Receiver convert video to the monitor out?

Q: I just ordered a new ONKYO TX-SR606 AV Receiver.

I want to connect all my HDMI and non-HDMI based components into the Receiver and output it to HDMI on my TV. That should work (of course).

I also want to connect a second TV and I want it to display exactly what is being displayed on the main TV. The seemingly simple solution is to split the HDMI signal into two and run the outputs into each TV.

But my second TV is too far away to do this (I'll...

A: Well .... sort of. Your onkyo receiver will take your HDMI and non-HDMI components and output all HDMI. You knew that. That's the easy part. However, it will not take signals coming into the HDMI port and down-convert them to S-Video.

I don't know exactly what your price range is for this sort of thing, but I wouldn't expect an HDMI splitter, amplifier (yes you need to amplify it) and long cable to run more than $300 total dollars. I get all my parts and supplies wholesale,...

my tv has red white and yellow but not red blue and green .my onkyo receiver has red blue and green, how can i hook my receiver to the tv to get the component signal


A: As others have said, you can't. However, there are converters and what you need is component to composite video converter. I just did a quick google though and the ones I found are costing more than a new TV. Give it a try yourself, you may be able to find something cheaper. It certainly is possible.

My Onkyo receiver sometimes doesn't switch the video for my TV.?

I have an Onkyo TX-SR504 receiver. I recently bought a TV with component inputs and have my DVD player hooked up to it through my receiver. The point of this is so that I can press one button to switch both the audio and video, correct?

Sometimes it switches perfectly but other times it only switches the audio and not the video. It seems like an easy problem to fix and I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem with this or any receiver. Thanks!


A: It sounds like the Onkyo may have a faulty switch for the component video. Since it has three component inputs, try moving the DVD player over to one of the other two and see if the problem follows. If it doesn't, then it's probably the Onkyo and if it does, it's probably in the cable from the DVD player component cable.

Don't forget to move the audio also.

Im looking into getting a Onkyo receiver (HT-S5100), and I want to hook my Wii up to it.?

The Wii comes with composite cables that ive pretty much figured out how I'd hook into the receiver, but I bought Component cables for it, and I don't see how that would work.

All the Onkyo recievers have only 'Component Video' and no Component Audio slots. If I were to buy this, will I be able to plug both the audio and video component cables in? And how would I get them to work together?
To clarify, there are no red and white holes in the component...


A: Yes, when you connect to a component in, you'll need to assign it to the input source your audio cables are connected to.
