I have never had a home theater system in my life, so I dont know anything about this. Which speaker wire should I get?
I went to the store, and they had several kinds. I saw regular speaker wire, HD speaker wire, and Monster Cable speaker wire.

A: I really want to slap the crap out of salespeople who try to sell the most expensive cables because you "need" it. You don't need it. Same for those stupid gold-plated connectors that cost more. Yes, it's true they don't corrode, but regular connectors don't corrode enough to make any difference.

By your description, it sounds as if you just need an additional cable to connect from the DVD (output) to the TV.
Once you have all your connections set up, I'm sure you'll be pleased with the quality of your system.
Since you receiver is connected to you dvd player how do you transfer your vide from receiver to your TV. Do you have a cable from video output on receiver to TV video in?
If you have a video cable from your receiver to TV, see if receiver has a setting to change to DVD mode from TV mode.
