maybe put the money into savings...or invest it instead of putting it all into a car that depreciates in value everyday....Just a thought!

it depends on the car, if it's a pile, don't do it. If you plan on keeping it for a long time, go for it.
That and if you have other stuff that you NEED as opposed to just want. Buy that stuff.
But hey, do what you want.

It sounds like you are on the right track. If you can get a head job for velocity and not mass (unless you plan on moving to forced induction then you want mass) and a aluminum flywheel then you would be set. For free you can take out all the sound deading stuff, that really helps with weight, which is like free power. Also knowing what kind of car helps to answer the question.
