How do I use my newly purchased Sony CD recorder to record LPs on to CDs? Connecting the turntable didnotwork

Q: Will I need additional components suchas an amplifier? If so, which type?

A: yep, you're gonna need a pre-amp...and I hate to tell you this, but you can do a better job if you use your PC.

I don't know if CD recorders have got better, but I had a Phillips one that had a fit if you left it recording for more than half an hour at a time. Also you had to buy special (expensive)...

I have a Sony CD recorder. Yesterday it would just shut off with the power button on..?

what the hell is this. Cord is fine. Power supply fine.? Now its doing it more and more. And than just goes back on? Like nothing happened. I never seen anything do this.


A: its possible it is faulty from the place you plug it in just like when you have a mp3 or cd player and yourjack for the headphones is screwed and you have to like wiggle it or hold it in place...its an attachment problem with the plug in or were the power button attaches to the board in the cd recorder...so yeah the only way to solve that problem is to open it up and resauder it to the board(which is really tricky and you cant get stray sauder on the board or your worse off) so besides that...

I need find a good (idealy sony) CD RECORDER (CD-R, CDRW where is a good source to find one good price new?

I am talking about a brand new machine 1st quality. New/ retail. good price. complete, unopened box.


A: I have owned a variety of CD and DVD burners (Sony, LG, Lite-On) and all have proven to be reliable. I would buy a DVD burner rather than a CD burner since the DVD burner will record and play both CD and DVD formats. Look for the fastest write times. My Sony DVD burner is much slower (an older machine) than the Lite-On burner I recently installed. If you are a Costco member, that's the place to go. (They have an excellent return/replacement policy if you are not satisfied) Other than...
