Sony book shelf stereo system model number?

Q: About 2 1/2 years ago I bought a Sony 400 watt book shelf stereo system. It had a subwoofer that had separate amp and it's own wiring. It had a 3 CD changer, digital AM-FM tuner, and a single cassette player. It was stolen and I want one just like it, but I can't remember the model number. The only other thing I can remember is that I bought it from Wal-Mart for $189.95. Can anyone who knows about Sony book shelf systems tell me the model number, so I can start looking on eBay and...

A: I don't use them cause my PC is loud enough already, why do you want it by the way???

If not you can just try to do a search like I did on Ebay or click on this link everytime. It does a search for compact shelf systems that are Sony and have 3-4 cd changer.

Can I use 22 gauge speaker wire for a Sony stereo shelf system that is a several years old?

A: For sure you can use it if it's a pretty basic system. It will hurt the sound if:
1. It's a really good system
2. It's powerful, and you turn it up loud
3. The speakers are a long way away from the amp (lots of wire)

If you have lots of 22 gauge handy, you could try an experiment. Connect your speakers using two lengths of 22 gauge in parallel. Then disconnect one of the two pairs of wires and see if you can hear the difference.

A: Generally speaking, Sony does make better sound equipment than JVC. I have a Sony receiver, but a JVC DVD player. So, JVC isn't a bad company. It just depends on what you buy from them.

If you really want to know the quality of a electronic, I find it helpful to read customer reviews at Amazon. They tend to be a little more insightful than magazine reviews. But, magazine or expert reviews can be helpful as well.
