Anyone who owns a Velodyne SPL-1200R subwoofer and use only the "Jazz" setting for bass?

Q: i've been trying out my spl-1200r, and i found not much difference in the "movie" and the "jazz" presets. but i have been reading online and some guys would love the "jazz" preset because of it's tight, clean, low distortion bass. does anybody uses only the "jazz" preset for movie and why? how do i maximize my spl sub with the "jazz" preset?

A: It is what YOU prefer that counts, but "Jazz" settings refer to the soundstage that the processor presents and I prefer that setting for most of my equipment as it interacts better with most other (Dolby) processors, in that it uses the least reverb (artificially created), and thus is the most natural presentation of the original signal.
Set it the same as you would for any other setting ie: loudest level with no over-excursions and no distortion. And if it is too loud then...

Velodyne MINIVEE Subwoofer -- powerful enough to cover 500 sq ft room?

I have an open family room/kitchen that iss 500 sq ft combined and am looking at Velodyne's DPS-12 but prefer a small model that can be placed and hidden more easily.

I'm not looking to shatter windows but want good quality bass for movies and music. Is the MINIVEE be enough power?

I have an Onkyo TX-SR602(B) 7.1 channel / 85 watt per channel amplifier-tuner with 3 in-ceiling speakers in the front and 2 in the back of our family room.

A: Get the biggest, most powerful sub you can afford. If there is too much bass you can always back it off.

Velodyne Subwoofer Feeding Back?

My Velodyne Uld15 Subwoofer's cone was rotted and its voice coil was blown. I had it repaired by South Florida Speaker Repair but now that I've got it back it squeals and feeds back. Any idea's about what might be wrong? Has anyone else had problems with this Speaker Repair shop?

velodyne subwoofer stopped working, light still on?

I have a velodyne spl series ii subwoofer. After moving, discovered that it no longer worked.

The light at the front would come on when I turned the power on but no sound coming out. Leaving it on auto power on mode, the light would come on as if it was detecting a signal correctly, when one was present. The receiver is a denon and the setup menu is already configured.

Temporarily swapped the rca cable and receiver and no difference. I opened up the sub and...


A: Best option is to give it for repairs. It's not user serviceable.
