A: Yes and no. The receiver has the ability to convert any incoming video signal to both component video and S video. However, it does not UPconvert an S video or composite video signal - it simply outputs the lower grade signal through a different set of outputs. Use the V Conv feature.

The remote works to control all components until the receiver is turned on, then it ceases to work on the set-top box/DVR.

1) Should I be running seperate cables to the plasma from DVD, Satallite receiver and VCR (I've to run component cables from DVD & sat receiver - and composite vedio cable from VCR because thats is what the output of my devices) and audio cables from these devices to Yamaha HTR6050 receiver.
2) The 2nd option is to run component and composite cables from devices to the reciever and then run single cable from Yamaha receiver to plasma TV. My plasma tv has one 29-pin DVI input where...


A: If I understand properly your receiver upconverts any incoming video to HDMI ,correct? Based on the information you provided this would be more convenient for you, and makes the receiver the hub of your system. Consult your manual first but run all video audio connection to the receiver and make your TV a monitor.

I have a top of the line Yamaha A/V receiver with component video or s-video output. Will it work be compatable with a new HDTV?


A: YES YOU CAN CAUSE EVERY NEW HDTV COMES WITH 2 TO 4 DIFFERENT OUTPUTS ON THE BACK OF THE TV. PURPOSE IS FOR USERS TO STILL BE ABLE TO USE THIER OLD PRODUCTS ON THE NEW TV INSTEAD OF MAKING EVERYONE BUY A HIGH TECH A/V RECIEVER.
