How can I play my ipod through my yamaha receiver and 6 speaker system?

Q: The receiver is a Yamaha HTR-5930 Natural Sound AV Receiver. It came with 5 speakers and a subwoofer. I have been able to play cds by connecting it through my dvd player, but I was wondering if there was a way I could play my ipod through the speakers. I have the connecting cable that allows you to play an mp3 player through a car stereo, alarm clock, etc. Thanks!

A: If your connecting cable is RCA jacks at one end, find an input on the back of the receiver and plug it in. Then switch the receiver to that input.

How do I connect a PS3 to my Yamaha YSP 1000 speaker system and Sharp Aquios 1080P LCD so I can watch bluray?

A: HDMI from PS3 video-out to HDMI video-in on your TV.
You need HDMI to get FULL HD(1080p). Reg component RGB input on your TV will not support 1080p, only 1080i. Then connect PS3 with Yamaha with optical cable, it's only two optical inputs on YSP 1000 - Cable IN & AUX IN. And DVD IN is coaxel, same quality as an optical, but not availible on PS3, I think. So chouse one if Optical inputs. Set your TV to show HDMI Input and Yamaha on DVD or AUX and enjoy.

Hi, I won a 6.1 Accuosound speaker system with rx-v361 yamaha receiver. This won't work together will it?

I have been told that the 6.1 speaker system will not work with the rx.v361 receiver as it is 5.1. Is this right? I am technically challenged.


A: It will work fine, you just won't be able to make use of the extra rear surround speaker.....if you ever upgrade later on to a receiver that supports 6.1 speakers you will have the speaker already.

Basicly just hook up the 2 fronts, 1 center, 2 surrounds and subwoofer to your receiver.

How do you combine a 2.0 speaker system with a 5.1 speaker system?

just bought a brand new sony 5.1 speaker system and i want to combined it with an old Yamaha 2.0 speaker system


A: I agree with answer # 1 and what's worse is that you could damage the equipment by doing that.

Use the old speakers for a little study room stereo or something like that!
