Q: i have a wicked crappy guitar cable. does this affect the sound, ton eor quality of what comes out of my amp?

A: All of your equipment could be top-of-the-line, handmade guitars and amps, but if that cable's no good, everything's pretty much gonna sound like trash. Do yourself a huge favor. Buy a new cable.

Yes it does. I was one of the people that said Bull s*** when someone told me about the tone off quality cable. It is true, and addictive I recommend planet waves or monster cable. I use planet waves and the ones with the breakers are nice. Wouldn't want them at every connection but it beats turning the volume down plus guaranteed for life so you choice. Its like $30 bucks to get you started

it effects everything ,mono jack verses stereo and connectivity you'll hear difference when you move it slightly

absolutely ! a bad cord can pick up noise,it dont send the full tone to the amp, it shorts out at the least conveneant time,can cause you to shock your lips if you touch the mic with them.
a good cable is a wise investment. i buy ONLY Monster cables !
they are top quality,life time warranty,professional grade.
they have different lengths and type. the rock cable i perfer is about 30.00 but you will never have to buy another one !

Basically, I have an electric guitar and a standard cable and i was wondering if there is a cable you can plug your guitar cable into that then plugs into your headphone jack.
What i want to do is plug my guitar into my mac so that i can play it on there - how can i do that?


A: Why do u want to plug a guitar into a headphone jack? a headphone jack is an output not an input.

You can use a small adaptor to plug a standard 1/4" jack plug into a standard 3.5mm headphone socket.

Do u mean u want to be able to plug headphones directly into your electric guitar?

in which case this won't work because the signal from your guitar will need to be amplified by a guitar amp first and then from the amp into your headphones.

how much is a cable that goes from the amp to the guitar at the crossroads in delaware.please answer if you've gotten one from there.


A: Well, most will run about $15 - $30 (depends on length) for a basic cable anywhere. The better quality ones will cost your around $50 or more and can go up to around $300 and have silver wiring (but I don't think your going that extravagant).

My amp works, and doesn't work on and off, its annoying. so i think its my cable. what new cable should i get? also, what is the proper to take care of it? like am i supposed to take it off the guitar and amp everytime i'm done playing, or leave it one there? thanks!

As a matter of habit, you should always unplug everything. This promotes organization, and a tidy playing space.

Or, if you're like me, and you have a youngin' running around, or a small room, or you continually manage to trip over the wrong thing at the worst time...

Or if you have any effects powered by batteries, plugging into an effect will usually sap the battery, whether the effect is turned on or...
