How to make the live sound of a microphone come through PC Speakers?

Q: I have a toshiba satellite 200/G01 notebook. Anyway i would like to be able to speak through my mic and then the live sound go through the speakers.

NOTE: I CAN RECORD AND THE SOUND IS THERE BUT NO LIVE SOUND.

A: Because if there was live sound, all you'd get is feedback. This is due to the fact that the the speakers and mic. on a notebook laptop are pretty close together.
Get yourself an external mic. and don't sit so close to the speakers.

Ok go to Control Panel & open Sound & Audio Devices, on the Audio tab look u'll find SOUND RECORDING press Volume: uncheck the box under Microphone.
Now u'll be able to hear ur voice

Is it possible to distinguish sound system sound and live sound ?

I wonder if there's a way to scientifically separate sound heard from a speaker and sound heard live?


A: Yes, especially if you had special recording equipment to record beyond the frequency range of human hearing. Sound systems, especially digital ones, aren't designed to record that part of the spectrum since it has no value to the listener.

Any good live sound tips for a newbie cover band? We're trying to manage our own PA and we seem to be running into certain problems every now and then:

1) Feedback: How do you limit / eliminate feedback? So far our solution has been either to reduce mic gain, make sure mic points away from FOH/stage monitors, reduce over-all level. Sometimes it works but sometimes, it leads to..

2) Inadequate volume (especially affects vocals). Either our vocalists couldnt...


A: Alright.... Your basically saying you want to learn how to be a sound engineer. Takes lots of training from either school or interning with an engineer. But here are some basic tips for you.

1. The way to eliminate feedback is to eq out all the bad frequencies that feed back. Instead of pulling down the whole volume of the mic, find the frequency that is feeding back and bring that down. You'll find that when you pull out most of the feedback your mic will also sound...

We are just days away from Live Sound at Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea!

Now, if you've never heard of Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time, or perhaps have never caught a live performance at this wonderfully quaint coffee house, here are three things to keep in mind:

1.) Live Sound features a special Inter-Library Loan episode of Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time. It's a self-contained, super funny adventure following our heroic librarian as he risks his life to fulfill I.L.L. requests.

2.) Live Sound features great local musicians. This time around, the show features Cleveland's own Marissa DeSantis, who is appearing for the first time (as a musician) at BFC&T. She'll be playing two sets of music in between segments of the radio play.

3.) Live Sound features great coffee. Okay, we didn't make the coffee; Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea Co. did. They roast it on-site, using beans that they buy directly from farmers all over the world. They have top-notch baristas who make the best latte's around. They also have smoothies that are quite good on hot days. So you can sit back and enjoy some great beverages while you listen to a fantastic radio adventure.

There are plenty of other great reasons to check out Thursday's Live Sound performance... but these are three you can certainly remember. The show runs from 7:00pm-8:30ish, and admission is free!
