Is it possible to get a HELOC with negative equity and a intrest only loan?

Q: I hear the "experts" on the radio say its possible, but I dont see how it is.
I heard a radio program "Dollartalk" about the MAP system to pay off your mortgage and it doesnt seem possible with negative equity.

A: They used to offer "no equity loans" during the boom like 125% equity loans but not anymore. Right now you need equity to get an equity loan. Most loans are going to be 60% or 70% LTV (loan to value). Whatever this dollartalk thing is may be some scam. If it sounds too good to be true - it probably is.

Can anyone explain to me how the "truth in equity" program really works.?

I briefly heard about this on a financial peace radio show. The website is truthinequity.com. It states that you can pay more to the principle on your mortgage with their program. By doing this you can pay off your mortgage in 5-7 years. How exactly does this method work? What are the pros and cons?


A: You did not hear about this from Dave Ramsey. He does *not* endorse any program that charges money to help you pay your equity down faster. (He endorses just sending the money to the bank.)


Truth in Equity sells "proprietary" software--Ramsey claims they charge $3500 and up for it.
