i am trying to receive 9740 from england and can't because of something. i can not figure it out yet. i have a homemade antenna on my roof but still can not receive reception for this channel. it has a 1/8 jack instead of coax connector for external antenna so it needs to be jack connector(like the headphone jack) not a coax or cable connector

A: Just a long wire antenna will do quite nicely. You can get a 1/8" plug with a wire attached at Radio shack. Hook the long wire antenna to the center wire (do not touch the ground side or you will kill the signal) and toss the wire out the window or hang it around you room.

Any wire 25 to 50 feet long should work OK for your needs

I am looking for an attractive DAB radio in the region of £100. I would like something fairly substantial with excellent sound quality and with good worldwide coverage, esp. for speaking radio. I saw a Sangean model that turns off automatically after a while so you can fall asleep to it, and wondered if this facility comes available in other radios and if so which. Bought this to replace a Sony shower radio I’ve had for years. I was amazed at the difference in quality. The sound is superb, it sounds like you have a component hifi in the bathroom. I use it mostly, but not only, to listen to the news, and the voice quality is amazingly clear. The volume can be set very loud with no distortion. One great little feature that is not described well in the listing is that the FM antenna in the back swings around to become a beautiful and very solid semi-circular handle for the radio, so you can carry it around the house very easily. FM reception is outstanding, AM so-so, but that’s inevitable and due to my location.
