I have a regular consumer-grade compact digital camera and a good tripod. The camera has a macro feature on it. I can't afford to upgrade to anything beyond that (yet). But I need to take some good macro shots of some jewelry for some eBay auctions. What are some suggestions on how to make the best of my limited equipment and get some good macro shots (so I can make enough money to actually buy some better equipment)?

A: Your camera should have a macro setting (little icon of a flower), try a couple of shots that way for smaller pieces against a neutral backdrop ( black, gray, tan). Push the shutter half way down, let the lens adjust and focus and try to do all this without the flash. Don't use a model wearing the pieces, distracting. just get the best pix possible of the jewelry.

How to set up a macro that will open several different programs at a time?

Can any one recommend a goob book or site on how to write macros? I want to make my personal computing easier and faster. More specifically I would like to learn how to write a macro or batch file that will enable me to open several programs with less effort! Thank you!

I can't find my camera manual and can't figure out how to take a macro shot. On most camera's there's a flower icon for the macro setting but not on the A540, though I know it can do macro shots. Can anyone help?

A: Your flower icon is on the ring on the back of the camera, above the two buttons.

I find that it works best if your camera is at a wide setting when you go to macro mode by pushing the flower icon.
